Y/PROJECT x UGG07.11.2018
The early 2000's trend stepped into the spotlight just a couple of seasons ago, when Vetements teamed up with Juicy Couture to create a series of velour track suits. In the FW'18 collections, this era has only strengthened its stand among the dominant trends of the season. The extremely comfortable UGG boot is a go-to attribute of the time. The avant-garde Parisian brand Y/Project, under the creative leadership of Glenn Martens, decided to revive this legendary shoe in their latest collection. We will tell you everything you need to know about this collab and offer several options of styling for these conspicuous pieces.
Y/Project sticks to a clear philosophy that roots in a fresh outlook at modern fashion. The brand emphasizes individuality and independence. Most of the silhouettes in the collections are unisex, so are the UGG boots. "Since launch we've been twisting the grounded codes, we challenged the acceptable and triggered people by putting focus on the unexpected. By reworking the classic boot with a typical Y/Project twist such as the triple overlaps and the extra-long legs we want to celebrate the UGG brand's unique history," shared Glenn Martens. That is why the shoes from the capsule collection praise not only the convenience and practicality, but value deconstructive aesthetics as well.
“The UGG Classic boot is one of the most recognizable shoes in history. It is a statement," explains Martens. The capsule collection was presented at both men's and women's fashion shows during Paris fashion week. Martens recontextualizes the recognizable features of the UGG brand: natural sheepskin, chestnut color and classic silhouettes through the prism of deconstruction.
As a result of this collaboration we got some super-stylish footwear which, surprisingly enough, is easy to integrate into your fashionable daily wardrobe. It's up to you whether to go for warm shearling boots, suede mules or heeled booties. And we are here to help you out with the styling options.
