Sneaker of the Month06.11.2018
This month we are excited to welcome one of the most anticipated releases to our concept-store. It is a sneaker from another collaboration of the Japanese shoe company ASICS and Bulgarian-born menswear designer Kiko Kostadinov. Coming together for the third time, Kostadinov and ASICS came up with GEL-Delva 1 sneaker, that dwells in the DNA of both brands.
Central Saint Martins graduate Kostadinov is currently the creative director of his eponymous brand and the premium line 0001 of the legendary British brand Mackintosh. The work of Kostadinov was highly influenced by an Italian art movement – Arte Povera, which is characterized by natural materials, earthy colors and industrial forms. The designer's pieces adhere to clear structured forms and utilitarian motives. Previous collaboration with ASICS introduced the GEL-Burz 2 in three colors, reminiscent of the traditional Bulgarian ceramics. Terracotta, mint and khaki dominated the runway in the Kiko Kostadinov AW'18 collection.
GEL-Delva 1 premiered at the the autumn-winter Kiko Kostadinov show in London. The silhouette is constructed from two legendary models: the upper part is made from GEL-Fuji Trabuko 7 and heel features the details from the GEL-Kayano 24 sneaker. The top is a unique mesh that cages the signature ASICS stripes. FLYTEFOAM cushioning technology in combination with the Dynamic DUOMAX material provides amortization that specifically adapts to individual foot. The colors of GEL-Delva 1 reflect the main motifs of the AW'18 collection and are presented in cement black and rose wood colorways.
ASICS x Kiko Kostadinov GEL-Delva 1 will be released this Friday, the ninth of November. Don't miss out!
